The routed overlay panels are manufactured from high density XPS 300kPa which is thermally insulating, lightweight, waterproof and faced with a reinforced cement coating. A quick and easy solution for the placement of pipework for domestic and commercial underfloor heating applications. The lightweight, reinforced cement facing, provides a robust surface that is ideal for direct bonding of tiles. Many other types of finishes such as engineered wood, carpet, vinyl etc can also be used, subject to additional preparation of the panels.

The panels are ideal for fitting onto solid floors i.e. concrete, screed, asphalt floors, and also suspended timber floors that have been boarded with suitable floor boarding such as tongue & groove planking/chipboard planking etc.

Easy to cut and install – they should be laid with the panel joints staggered in a brick bond style. The routed channels are compatible with most flexible low-pressure underfloor heating pipes. They are designed for use over existing floors, providing a low height build up insulated floor.

Available for use with 12mm pipes with centres at 150mm. At the end of each panel is a series of pre formed return loops and 3 x routed channels which allow flexibility and versatility for multiple heated zones to be fitted.

Installation & Finishing Guidelines

Fixing onto solid floors prior to applying tiles/ engineered wood:
(Fixing with adhesive)
Prime the floor with a suitable primer. Apply a solid bed of cement-based, flexible tile adhesive using an 8 – 12mm notched tiling trowel.
Apply suitable pressure to ensure good compaction of the panel into the adhesive.

Fixing onto timber floors prior to applying tiles / engineered wood:
(Fixing with Screws and Washers)
Fix using 35mm diameter washers with a suitable screw, set at maximum 300mm centres (additional fixings can be used to secure the panels if required).
If the floor is uneven, we recommend fixing the overlay panels with a solid bed of cement-based, flexible tile adhesive, in addition fix with 35mm diameter washers and suitable screws using approximately 8 fixings per panel once the adhesive has set.

Once the pipework is fitted, tiles can be fixed directly to the panel surface. Where engineered wood/laminate planking is to be used, it will be necessary to fit a low thermal resistance underlay over the overlay panel before fitting the engineered wood/ laminate planking.

Where soft floor finishes are to be used i.e. carpet and vinyl etc, once the panels and pipework is fitted, a self-levelling screed must be applied at minimum 10mm thick onto the overlay panels and allowed to cure prior to fitting soft finishes.

A suitable joint bridging mesh/tape must be used to cover the overlay panel joints prior to applying floor levelling screeds.
